CHAPTER 8

James and I decided to take a vacation to Jamaica, because he wanted to visit some relatives that he has not seen since the day he left. He was excited about taking Nick and letting everyone see his pride and joy and to see what beautiful life he’s made here in the US. It’s been five months since I came back from Vegas and I guess I am ready for a family trip. After all, we deserve one considering everything that we just went through with him staying out all night. I have yet to find out the truth, but ever since then he’s been spoiling me and our son every chance he gets, and I love every moment of it. As I go on the internet to check on flights to find something affordable, almost immediately I got an instant message from Roxanne, telling me that her mom had a living will and that her sister Kissy and her kids are entitled to everything including the house, the car and the balance of the insurance money from the half a million dollar policy. The only thing that she left for Roxanne was a bible that she had since she was a young woman working in the cotton fields. Roxanne’s voice appeared to be deep and weary, she was furious. My response to her message was, keep your head up girl; nothing is worst than losing a parent. I wish you well and may God Bless you. I knew Roxanne wouldn’t take that comment too well, because right now what she’s searching for is some drama and negative feedback. My husband and I are working on our marriage and I’m not about to let any negativity interrupt what we’re trying to rebuild. She responded by saying “Okay Ms. Holy than I”. I knew she would shoot back with sarcasm, that’s her ammo. My husband advised me to stay away from her and Tiffany on several occasions, but as stubborn as I am; I might have to take his advice on this one. Let the truth be told, rumors are surfacing that Roxanne might be going down for embezzling over $100,000 and the department is seeking charges and that the money be paid back. I can’t say anything to her, because I can be charged with interfering with an investigation and for aiding and embedding. None of us are perfect and we all have dirt. There are consequences behind everything that we do. Owning up to your responsibility and learning to play the hand that is dealt to you is important in life. If we could change anything about ourselves or our situation trust me each and every one of us would. There are consequences behind greed and it comes with a huge price tag. Roxanne is a woman of darkness, she’s cold hearted, heartless and self destructive. Whatever God has for me is for me and for every wrong that I’ve done I will have to suffer the consequences. I repent and ask that God change my heart and help me to become a better me.
